Mainstreet Pictures has brought Vanity Fair writer Gwyneth Hughes on board to pen a drama series based on The Five, historian Hallie Rubenhold’s untold story of Jack the Ripper’s five victims.

Mainstreet, best known for producing the award winning series Unforgotten, optioned Rubenhold’s latest work of women’s social history before publication and Hughes (Doing Money, Dark Angel, Honour) is writing the adaptation. The project is in development for BBC1.
